Beskrivelse

“Lead Me Through Understanding” is a book about how understanding the needs and behavior of neurodivergent people can prevent misunderstandings and poor well-being in the workplace.

This book won’t make you a psychiatrist or teach you every neurodivergent trait by heart.

But it will teach you to pause before thinking:
“She’s weird, selfish, lazy, odd, or just plain rude.”
And instead think:
“Well, that was unexpected! That behavior seems really strange—I have no idea what’s going on. It feels extreme… or maybe neurodivergent. There must be some underlying needs here that I just don’t get. I should probably ask about that.”

It might sound easy, but it’s not. Even after writing a whole book on the topic, I still catch myself falling into negative thoughts about other neurodivergent people. We’ve lived 30, 40, 60 years with ideas about what counts as rude, inappropriate, or lazy behavior—so of course it takes time and energy to change those thought patterns.

That’s why the book also teaches you how to ask in a way that makes neurodivergent people feel safe enough to open up, express their needs, and explain the reasons behind their behavior. Once we begin to understand the mechanisms behind the behavior, it gets easier to shift our mindset too.

Lead Me Through Understanding opens the door to understanding the unconscious needs of neurodivergent people at work—needs we often don’t even fully understand ourselves. Needs that drive behavior that can seem different or even problematic. Behavior that often gets in our own way, leads to conflict, and ultimately pushes many of us out of the workforce.

If you are neurodivergent, I can almost guarantee you’ll find plenty of aha moments in the book. I even recommend reading the last chapter first 😉

When we understand neurodivergent behavior, it becomes possible to avoid the painful scenarios—and instead tap into the unique strengths neurodivergent people bring to the table.
